Fishing licences types in Australia

NT Fishing License:
A person who wishes to amateur fish within the Northern Territory does not require a licence to do so. However, recreational fishers will currently need a temporary licence for recreational fishing activities conducted on and over aboriginal granted land and adjoining waters.
Enquiries can be directed to the NLC on 1800 645 299 or by visiting the NLC website on www.nlc.org.au. and http://www.nt.gov.au/dpifm/Fi sheries/

Queensland Fishing License:
Anglers do not require a license to fish recreationally in Queensland, except if fishing in some stocked impoundments. The links below provide detailed information on anglers' responsibilities when fishing in fresh waters and tidal waters.

SA Fishing License:
No Fishing License is currently required in South Australia (01/2008) check http://www.pir.sa.gov.au/f isheries/recreational_fishing for the most up to date information. To ensure the long-term health and availability of fish stocks, it is critical that enough fish of each species remain in the water to reproduce and replace the numbers removed each year by fishing.
Tasmanian Fishing License:
To fish at a Tasmanian inland water, you must hold a current Angling Licence and fish with a rod, reel and line during the angling season that applies to the water. You do not need a licence to fish at a Registered Private Fishery or if you are under 14 years of age.
Licence Conditions It is a condition of the angling licence, that the licence holder comply with the Inland Fisheries Act 1995 and subsequent regulations and orders. This legislation can be viewed in full on-line at www.thelaw.tas.gov.au. A summary of this legislation, as it applies to seasonal regulations, is provided in the Tasmanian Inland Recreational Fishing Code 2008-09. You can download the 2008-09 Fishing Code or pick up a copy from most major fishing tackle stores and Service Tasmania shops.
